Silica-fume concrete has been used in a variety of applications where
increased abrasion resistance is the goal. Far a given aggregate, abrasion
resistance increases directly with compressive strength.
The first major publicly-bid silica fume project in the United States was
for the repair of abrasion-erosion damage at a Corps of Engineers dam. That
project is shown on the next few slides.
